Take a look at the below situation and ask yourself: Would “Bee” be entitled to the same pay rate as “Ace”?

Ace is Nonprofit “ABC”’s full-time employee. She works in one of ABC’s location in Toronto, ON, near Dundas and University. Her pay rate is higher than Bee’s, who is ABC’s part-time employee. Bee works from her home-office in Hamilton, ON, and she has in-person, bi-weekly meetings with her supervisor in Toronto, near St. Clair and Yonge, which is ABC’s second location in Toronto. Ace and Bee perform substantially the same kind of work.

If you are a public sector organization, then this session is for you! Ontario’s Bill 148 has created real disruption for nonprofit and public sector employers, with massive changes to the minimum wage, payroll calculations, entitlements, and labour relations rules. While the initial minimum wage increase is already in effect as of January 1st, 2018, many agencies will be significantly impacted by the Equal Pay for Equal Work provision coming into force in April. With 50 days until this piece of the legislation is enforceable, find out what you need to know now from Employment and Labour Relations Lawyer, Antonio F. Urdaneta.
